This beautiful linen duvet set is cozy and affordable. At well under $100 it is the perfect answer to anyone wanting to add the charm and comfort of linen bedding on a budget.

Linen bedding just exudes cozy charm!
Years ago I was watching my favorite YouTuber as she updated her farmhouse bedroom. In the video she showcased her new linen sheets and duvet cover and I was OBSESSED. The sheets looked fresh and clean but also with the comfort of well worn sheets . The duvet laid with just enough wrinkle and bag that you wouldn’t feel guilty jumping onto a freshly made bed.

The rustic linen fabric gave off the most romantic vision of fresh laundry blowing lightly on the clothesline as a warm spring breeze drifted by. I was so hooked and ran to the link in the bio. Unfortunately, the price tag on the set was a gut punch. I had no doubt of the worth and value due to the quality materials and ethical manufacturing. But spending our monthly grocery budget on something to lay down on just was not an option.
The search for an affordable linen duvet set begins!
This immediately started the search for an affordable linen bedding alternative. I was honestly surprised at how few options there seemed to be. It’s also very tricky to tell through photos whether or not the overall look is the one that I was going for. For years I scoured the internet and home decor stores. Target had a linen comforter and duvet option, but $119-139 still felt a bit rich for my wallet. Eventually I gave up and continued using my tried and true beige striped Ikea duvet cover.

Our little country cottage
Last month we purchased my dream home. A tiny 1,000 sqft country cottage on 2 acres right around the corner from my husband’s parents. The whole house exudes charm with some of the recent finishes giving off a bit of a french countryside vibe.

We are absolutely in love; but, 1,000 sqft is a bit of a squeeze for us as a family of 5. Our bedroom was massively downsized to almost half the size of our previous master. There is not room for much else besides our queen bed and so I really wanted the bed and linens to make this tiny space a room you’d never want to leave.
Finally finding the perfect affordable linen duvet bedding!
So I started the search for affordable linen bedding yet again and I’m really happy with what I was able to find this time! Our room is still a work in progress. With it being such a small space I’m taking my time figuring out what I would like to do for decor and a potential accent wall. But for now I’m super happy with the simplistic look that my linen duvet set offers.

This time around I was prepared to spend a little more than previously because, again, the room is so small that I didn’t need a huge budget when it came to furniture for this new space. I ultimately landed on the Simple&Opulence French Linen Duvet Cover Set sold on Walmart.com. At the time I purchased (and as I’m writing this) it was on sale for $63.99 which I think is a very fair price for the quality you get.

This set comes with the duvet cover and 2 sham pillow cases. It comes in 17 different colors which is pretty amazing. I went with the beige/linen color, but if I had it to do over I would probably go with a different color all together. I absolutely love the look of it but after getting it in my room I do think it is a bit too warm a color for my cooler tone walls. But it definitely works for now.
The fabric itself has a slight starched feel to it, but I have not minded it. If anything I think it helps keep it look a bit more crisp than some over the other brands I’ve seen. That might also go away after a few more washes. Up close the fabric has that lovely thatched look to the threading which i just think is so rustic and really brings out that french countryside clothes line charm I’m going for.

The inside of the duvet has ties at all four corners to attach to the duvet and help keep things in order. My previous duvet cover did not have this feature and I’m definitely a fan. The duvet cover has a button closure which is way more charming, in my opinion, than a zipper.

The linen duvet cover is a really good length. I like to pull my comforter up high over my pillows and then fold it back and I’m able to do that and still have plenty to cover the foot of the mattress.
I have paired this with a fluffy down comforter (another walmart.com purchase) and my husband and I couldn’t be more happy with the set. The bedding is cozy but breathable and the overall look is just so enticing.

It’s so important to create a space you love!
Our previous master bedroom housed mine and my husband’s gaming pc set up. We also had a large tv mounted on the wall. We wanted to create a little escape for us once the kids had gone to bed. Downsizing into this smaller space I was worried that we would lose that little haven that we had created. It is definitely a change from what we had before but there is something so appealing about this small minimal space. I look forward to making my bed every morning. Throughout the day I escape to this simple little space to nurse the baby. Sometimes I just stare out the window for a moment.

If you are looking for an affordable linen duvet set I definitely recommend checking this set out! If there’s a home decor item that you like but is out of your price range don’t give up! Keep searching until you find the perfect piece for your space. I think it’s so important that we make our home a space we’re excited to live in every day.
