5 Cozy Games to Play This Fall

As the air turns crisp and golden leaves begin to fall, there’s nothing better than curling up with some cozy games that matches the season’s mood. Autumn feels like the perfect time to sink into slower gameplay, comforting stories, and worlds filled with warmth. Whether you’re delivering letters in the forest, solving mysteries, or running your own little café, these cozy titles are sure to capture that fall magic.

Here are five cozy games to play this autumn that will make your golden hour evenings even more special:

1. Mail Time (Steam and Nintendo Switch)

3 Screenshots from the cozy game Mail Time.

If you’ve had Mail Time sitting in your library (like me!) and haven’t gotten around to playing it yet, fall is the perfect season to finally dive in. The game puts you in the role of a tiny mail scout delivering letters and packages across a whimsical, storybook forest. With its warm color palette, charming characters, and gentle pace, Mail Time feels perfect for Autumnal gaming. This year, I’m finally determined to play it—and I can’t think of a better autumn gaming choice.

2. Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem (Steam and HerInteractive.com)

I’ve been playing Nancy Drew games since I was nine years old, and I’ll always have a soft spot for them. Midnight in Salem was the first release after a big change in the developer team. While some long-time fans weren’t sure about the updates, there’s no denying they nailed the fall atmosphere. The game is packed with cozy-yet-mysterious Salem vibes. Think old houses, crisp night air, and enough puzzles to keep you on your toes. It’s perfect if you want something a little more atmospheric for the season with just a touch of spook.

3. Good Coffee, Great Coffee (Android Play Store and Apple App Store)

What’s more fall than sipping a warm latte while the leaves change outside? Good Coffee, Great Coffee lets you run your very own café, serving up comforting drinks to customers who pop in with their stories. I loved its predecessor (Good Pizza, Great Pizza), and I already know this one is going to capture the same cozy charm. There’s just something about the rhythm of running a coffee shop that makes it such a perfect autumn game—like stepping into your favorite local café whenever you want. I also love that this game can be played on your phone or tablet. Perfect for a cozy gaming experience on the go!

4. Tales of the Shire (Steam, X-Box, Playstation 5, and Nintendo Switch)

This one has been sitting at the top of my wishlist all year, and fall feels like the perfect time to finally step into the world of Tales of the Shire. With its lush countryside setting and focus on simple, Hobbit-inspired living, this game looks like the definition of cozy. Think gardening, cooking, fishing, and wandering through a world that feels like it was made for autumn afternoons. Even though I haven’t played it yet, I can already tell this game will be a staple for anyone looking to slow down and embrace the season.

5. Fields of Mistria (Steam)

This game has completely stolen my heart. Fields of Mistria has been one of my top three favorites since its release, and I’ve spent hours getting lost in its world. It combines everything I love about farming sims with a refreshing spin, offering deep relationships, plenty of crafting, and the joy of building your farm through the seasons. Right now, I’m powering through summer in hopes of playing the fall season during fall—and honestly, I can’t think of a cozier plan. If you’re looking for a game that lets you live out an entire autumn in a charming pixel world, this is the one. (This games runs great on the Steamdeck!)

Final Thoughts

Fall is such a wonderful season to slow down and savor the little things, and these cozy games are the perfect way to do just that. Whether you’re solving mysteries in Salem, delivering forest mail, or tending to pixel-perfect fields, each one offers its own kind of autumn magic.

So brew a cup of tea, light an autumnal candle, and dive into one of these games—you’ll find yourself wrapped in the warmth of fall, no matter what the weather looks like outside.

There’s more where that came from!
