Easy Homemade Peach Sauce With Just 3 Ingredients

August 5, 2025 by cozykeeper 1 Comment

Learn how to make homemade peach sauce with just 3 simple ingredients. This cozy, small-batch recipe is perfect for ice cream, toast, tea, and more—plus canning instructions included!

Is there anything that tastes more like late summer than ripe, juicy peaches? A co-op in my area had a delivery man reach out with 25lb boxes of peaches for $18 do to the intended customer not being able to receive them. Needless to say we had a very sticky Sunday that resulted in several quarts of sliced peaches. In addition to the sliced peaches I wanted to experiment a little so I whipped up a small batch of homemade peach sauce—and friends, it turned out so good I just had to share it with you. I have since used it for peach sweet tea, spread over warm toast, and drizzled over ice-cream. You just can’t go wrong with this.

I processed a few jars for the pantry, so we’ll be able to enjoy that golden peach flavor well into fall. If you’re comfortable with water bath canning, I’ll walk you through that too! So without further ado here is the recipe to my homemade peach sauce.

Ingredients

  • 30 oz skinned and sliced peaches (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups cane sugar
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice

Optional:

  • A pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract if you want to cozy it up even more!

Note: If you’re starting with whole peaches, I recommend blanching them. Just dip them in boiling water for about a minute, then immediately transfer them to an ice bath—this makes the skins slip right off.

Instructions

  1. Add the peaches and sugar to a large pot.
Cook over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the peaches begin to soften and release their juices. As the mixture warms up, you’ll start to smell that lovely sweet summer scent!
  2. Bring to a gentle boil.
Let the mixture boil for about 1 minute while continuing to stir. The fruit should be breaking down at this point.
  3. Blend to your desired consistency.
I like to use an immersion blender to smooth things out. Personally, I aim for more of a pourable sauce consistency—it’s perfect for stirring into beverages, spooning over desserts, and still spreadable enough for toast.
  4. Return to heat and simmer.
After blending, place the sauce back on the heat and stir frequently until it thickens to your liking. The longer you simmer, the more it will reduce and intensify in flavor.
  5. Store or preserve.
If you’re just making a small batch, let the sauce cool and store it in the fridge for up to two weeks. Want to shelf-stable can it for later? Ladle the hot sauce into sterilized jars, leaving ½ inch of headspace. Wipe the rims, apply lids and rings, then process in a boiling water bath for 35 minutes.

Please Note: While I’m comfortable canning this peach sauce and serving it to my family, always do your own research when it comes to food preservation. Proper acidity and processing times are key for safe canning. The National Center for Home Food Preservation is a great place to start!

How to Use Your Peach Sauce

This little jar of joy is more versatile than you might think! Here are some of my favorite ways to enjoy it:

  • Peach Iced Tea – Stir a spoonful into cold black tea with lemon for a refreshing summer drink.
  • Over Vanilla Ice Cream – Warm slightly and pour over ice cream for a peaches-and-cream dessert.
  • Spread on Toast or Biscuits – Just like jam, but a little lighter and more pourable.
  • In a Matcha Latte – I’m already dreaming about trying it in place of the strawberry sauce in my Strawberry Matcha Latte recipe (link here!).

I love that this recipe is simple enough to whip up on a lazy summer afternoon but feels just a little bit fancy. It’s a beautiful way to make the most of peak-season peaches—especially if you find yourself with a $18 box of peaches that’s ripening fast!
